BARÜ Students and Academics Ranked Among the Best at TEKNOFEST

Students from Bartın University (BARÜ) were awarded second place at TEKNOFEST 2023 with their project that produces high energy through a novel and environmentally friendly method of hydrogen generation aligned with the university’s specialization focus.

The winners of TEKNOFEST 2023, one of the most prominent aviation, space, and technology events followed with great interest both in Türkiye and worldwide, have been announced. The BioHydroBattery team, composed of BARÜ students, stood out with their achievements in the competitions where projects developed using local and national resources were showcased.

The project titled “BioHydroBattery,” carried out under the supervision of Associate Professor Dursun Kısa and Assistant Professor Rizvan İmamoğlu from the Faculty of Science, and developed by graduate students Ahmet Çelik and Sude Derefrom the Institute of Graduate Studies, Department of Molecular Biology and Genetics, received the second prize.

Awarded in the Biotechnology Innovation Competition (University and Above – Concept Category), the project aims to explore new methods for hydrogen production as an alternative and environmentally friendly energy carrier, while also generating high energy from animal waste.

Evaluating TEKNOFEST 2023 as a sign of a brighter future, BARÜ Rector Professor Orhan Uzun congratulated all participating students and the academics who supported them, emphasizing that strong and determined steps are being taken towards a fully independent and powerful Türkiye.
